Back to London

Having left for good in 2006 I was really looking forward to coming back to the city that I love so much. To my surprise Air Berlin now also heads directly to Gatwick Airport in the south of London which is - at least I think so - more convenient than flying to Stansted in the north. I can recommend the train connection from Gatwick via First Capital Connect to the city centre which cost me no more than 17 pounds - quite a bargain in comparison to former years where I paid this amount of money for a single and not a return ticket. Before leaving the arrival terminal you can already buy your train tickets or even purchase your personal Oyster Card to get around with public means of transport.

Time flies ... and nothing can prove that more than having a look at London's skyline. London, as every visitor can see, is getting ready for the 2012 Olympic Games. Train Stations are being totally modernized (Blackfriars, London Bridge etc.) and there is a scaffolding in nearly every street. What's really dashy at the moment is the Shard skyscraper site. Nevertheless, there are plenty of other sights as well that have shaped a somewhat new face of the city that never sleeps.
